I was scrolling TikTok (as I do) a few days ago and got served a video, which now has 19 million+ views, on my FYP from the creator Amanda Talijan. She titled the video, ‘Story time: How I lost a friend over a piece of jewelry’.
Amanda goes on to explain that a former friend of hers gave her a hand chain as a gift after she had been an admirer of the friends. The friend said, ‘now we can match!’ After becoming so fond of the hand chain, Amanda went on to buy a second and third.
I promise this is going somewhere.
Said friend then begins to express to Amanda (after days of ignoring her) that she’s offended that Amanda now has three hand chains without asking for her permission. Blah, blah, blah, the story goes on. You can watch the video for more context.
So why am I discussing this?
BECAUSE NOW I CAN’T STOP SEEING HAND CHAINS ALL OVER. In fact, the girlies are going feral for hand chains.
Alix Earle popped up on my FYP wearing… a hand chain.
And her followers are following suit.
Then, this morning I’m scrolling and ANOTHER creator pops up claiming how she’s upset now too because hand chains are HER thing and Alix Earle is going to make them popular.
What the heck is going on?!
This trend may fizzle as quickly as it took off, so if you want in, now is the time to strike while the iron is hot. I’ll link some hand chain options for you below. Enjoy and try not to get on people’s bad side for “stealing their look”.
